Car Accident on Highway 178 in Bakersfield

March 31, 2014- A vehicle accident took place Monday morning, in Kern County, on Highway 178.  The collision happened in Bakersfield under the Beale overpass.

A white sedan was driving westbound and attempted to merge from the right lane to the next lane over.  After seeing another car already in the lane, the driver over-corrected and veered off the road and up the embankment.

The car then soared into the air, hit a tree, and finally landed upside down on the highway.

The driver and a passenger were in the vehicle.  One victim suffered moderate injuries, which included a broken leg.  The other person received minor injuries.  They were taken to the local hospital for treatment.
