Pedestrian Accident Involving Police Officer in Visalia on Santa Fe Street and Grove Avenue

November 1, 2014- A deadly car accident involving a police officer, took place in Tulare County.  The vehicle collision left one pedestrian fatally wounded, in Visalia, on Saturday, at about 1:30 AM.

Rodrigo Cabral, 27 years old, was walking with two other men down the street.  He is reported to have been in the middle of the road, at Santa Fe Street and Grove Avenue.

A Visalia police officer who was responding to a disturbance, was traveling down the roadway, when he came upon the pedestrian.  It is reported that he tried to swerve and avoid Cabral, but could not, and ended up hitting him.

Cabral suffered serious injuries and was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center, for treatment.  He later died in the hospital from his wounds.

Rodrigo Cabral's brother, Alfredo Conchas, said that his family did not find out that it was a Visalia Police Officer who struck and killed Cabral, until they saw it on the news.

The Law firm of Nelson and Rozier is currently handling a similar case arising from 8/23/13 when a Fresno Police car ran over a man on a bicycle named Angel Toscano.  In that case we were able to download the event data recorder from the police cruiser to determine pre-accident speed and acceleration of the car.
