Toddler Girl Killed in Hit and Run Accident in Porterville

On Sunday, November 9, 2014, a 3 year old child was killed in a hit-and-run auto collision, in Tulare County.  The pedestrian accident occurred in Porterville, at approximately 6 PM.

The CHP have reported that Adolfo Balbuena, 18 years old, was driving a 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo sedan, while intoxicated.  He was traveling west on Tyler Avenue, when the car veered off the roadway, and onto the dirt shoulder of Tyler Ave.

The Chevrolet crashed into a fence and then into an ice cream truck that was parked at the side of the road, where a group of pedestrians were gathered.

The car hit the little girl, who has now been identified Angeles Moreno, and two other children and pinned them to the truck.  The Chevy then backed up and drove away from the scene of the crash.

Balbuena was later found hiding in the backyard, and was arrested.  It has been reported that he was an illegal immigrant.

Angeles Moreno was rushed to Kaweah Delta Medical Center, in Visalia.  She was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The other two children, and one of the ice cream truck vendors were also injured, all with minor injuries.  They were also taken to the hospital for treatment.
