Investigation Needed for Fatal U.S. Mail Truck Crash, on Delta Street in Porterville

Porterville Police have reported that an 18-month-old boy died after an U.S. Postal truck ran him over, on Friday, April 3, 2015.  The vehicle accident happened in the area of Delta Street and Aurora Avenue, in front of the child's home.  The Tulare County collision occurred at about 1:30 PM.

The United States mail truck was delivering letters in front of 481 N. Delta Street.  According to witnesses, the toddler, who has been identified as T.J. Trevino, was playing in the front yard with his mother, father, and older brother.  He apparently darted out into the street and the postal vehicle hit him, as the truck was pulling away from the mailboxes.

The male driver was reported to have immediately exited his vehicle and helped with the young child.  Neighbors reported that the toddler appeared to not be breathing at that time.

Emergency personnel soon arrived and T.J. Trevino was taken to Sierra View Medical Center, by ambulance.  He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The family of T.J. is asking for donations.
