Rollover SUV Collision in Fresno County Kills One, Near Kingsburg

On Tuesday, April 28, 2015, an automobile collision resulted in the death of a Selma woman, in Fresno County.  The SUV accident happened near Kingsburg, at approximately 5:45 PM.

A 2004 Cadillac Escalade, driver by 62 year old Maria Jesus Gonzalez-Valdez/Vasquez, was traveling southbound on Sixth Avenue, just north of Bangor Avenue.  Passengers; Petra Rodriguez, and Guadalupe Cano, and an 89 year old woman from Selma, were also in the SUV.

A 2014 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Ruben Orona, was in Meli's Grocery parking lot, when the car entered the southbound lane on Sixth Ave.  The Hyundai pulled out right in front of the Sport Utility Vehicle.

The front of the Sonata smashed into the right side of the Cadillac, which caused the Escalade to rollover several times.  The passenger in the front seat of the SUV was thrown from the vehicle.  She sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Vasquez, Rodriguez, and Cano sustained minor to moderate injuries and were taken to a local hospital.

Orona was not injured.
